Open the Windows 

If it’s 90 degrees and your guests are drinking alcoholic beverages, it’s safe to say that you will need to open the windows to let some air in and get rid of the afterparty smells. Plus, when you let in natural light, it’s much easier to see the surfaces that you’re cleaning. 

Gather Up and Get Rid of The Empty Bottles

After a gathering, there’s always going to be empty or half-full glasses and bottles sitting around the room. Pour out any unfinished beverages, and discard any unfinished food as well. When you let air circulate, coupled with getting rid of drinks and food, the room will slowly begin to become fresher again

Load the Dishwasher or Start Letting Dishes Soak in the Sink

You’ll overwhelm yourself if you try to tackle cleaning multiple rooms at once. You might find it helpful to start with the room furthest away from the kitchen and then work your way towards the kitchen. Clean each room one by one.

  1. The Bathroom: Tackle cleaning the toilet first and use microfiber cleaning cloths to absorb a lot of dust. Let cleaning solutions soak on the sink and wherever else you think germs accumulated during your party. 
  2. The Living Room: Get your polisher and duster, tackle each surface one by one, and work your way around the entire living room. Spritz down your curtains and clean your carpet if it has stains. 
  3. The Kitchen: Start by scrubbing the dishes that you let soak or drying off the dishes that you left in the dishwasher. Spray the oven with oven cleaner if you cooked for guests, and let the oven work its magic as you wipe down surfaces. Leave the hardwood floors last!
